Final Poster

1.

I chose this images because it makes people think and wonder what it is. I like letting people use their imagination as to how this picture came about. I have a firepit in my backyard in Utah that has a chimney on it. I noticed the embers would fly out the top and they were fairly bright, so I wanted to see if I could do a light photo with them if I kept my shutter open. I climbed to the top of the roof and had my mom stoke the fire, causing a million embers shooting out the top for 15 seconds while I stood still. The effect was perfect. I didnt move at all, the embers shot out in all different directions. I then did a slight sharpen and an adjustment layer to make the darker areas darker. I then masked out that layer so that they lighter areas wouldnt be too dark. Then I used the burn tool to get just the super exposed embers to be slightly darker.

Bannack Reverse Shallow Depth

1.

2.

Nail
For this assignment we had to do a reverse shallow depth of field for the same shot. I just focused on the foreground and then background in the different pictures so that one of them is in focus in each photo.

Bannack HDR

HDR
These pictures I used the free trial of Dynamic Photo. For the top photo I took three different exposure shots and blending them in HDR, and the cabin I used only one photo.

Bannack Portraits

 2.

These were my portrait shots. I liked the view of Virginia through the window, and the angle of Blake leaning against the log cabin. I thought the different textures in both shots would give a nice contrast.

Bannack Fast Action Shots

1.
Knock Knock
This was my ghost shot. I had a 6 second shutter speed and I had Virginia stand still the whole 6 seconds, and Blake stood there for 3 seconds and then dove behind the door area. It gave it a really eery cool effect like he was haunting her and she didnt even realize it.

2.
Share the Love
This is def one of my fave shots I have taken. I had everyone hold hands and jump while I clicked a fast shutter speed and captured them in mid air. My shutter was about 1/320sec to capture them perfectly like this. I love everyone's expression. I added a slight adjustment as well.

Bannack Macro Shots

1.

2.

Our assignment for this was to take a macro shot, and a texture macro shot and then do a blend of them together. I liked the lock because it was like a piece of modern life mixed with the older Bannack life. I just did an overlay blend to blend the two images together.

Fine Art Template

This was a fun one to do, but I did have a struggle getting the clipping mask to do all of my squares, so I had to get some help with this one. I took this photo when I was doing my fauna and floral post, and I like the way the sky looks, and I felt it created a nice template.

Light/Night Photos

Death By Light
This is the motion light picture. My camera can only go up to fifteen seconds for a shutter speed, so that is what I had to work with. This is the chimney for my outside fire pit. The embers were sparking out and I sat with my shutter speed open while they flew in the sky.

Heavenly Guitar
This would be my very obscure light painting. I used the glow sticks from the dollar store to illuminate the guitar so paint the guitar in the dark. I used a fifteen second shutter speed to try and get as much light from the glow sticks as I could to make the guitar a glowed, soft look.

The Fog
I thought the light in my backyard was neat in a really creepy way, so I used this for my camera motion shot. I opened my shutter for fifteen seconds and I panned my camera across the sky, which is why the lights look like they are being dragged. I wanted it to have a scary, foggy feel.

Scanography

1. Musical Epiphany
This was the scan that was unedited. I took my guitar chord to my amp and all of the picks I collect and arranged them. I wanted it to be colorful.

2. I Spy
This was my collage scan. I scanned what feels like a million images, and I couldnt decide on one, so I decided to use them all. I wanted to replicate the "I Spy" books that I loved as a kid. I just did a black background and selected each different item from the scans and copied them a couple times and sized them and splurged them on the screen. Have fun exploring ;)

Edge Effects

1. Helping Hands
This was a photo I took while I was doing the portraits blog. I adjusted the levels slightly and decided to use the sprayed edges effect. I thought it gave it more of a fairytale effect.

2. ManLand
I  just wanted to capture this moment while the boys were in their own little world talking about cars. I used the brushed edges effect to make it more manly because it feels like a manly picture.

3. Peas in a Pod
This was taken one night while my best friend Merinda and I had a sleepover in the living room. We had to capture that night. I used the burned edges effect and added a stroke to bring more attention to our faces. Merinda and I always joke about how opposite we are, and I think the border accents that.
