Flexible Edit Photos

Finished Product:

1. Queen's Court
I decided to not only do an adjustment layer, but also do a desaturation effect. I didnt want to have it completely be black and white because I do like the hint of green on the white side of the board. When I play chess I always have to be the darker color. So for my flexible edit, I adjusted the levels and then did a hue/saturation effect and masked out the green queen and the blue sky. It loses the bright yellow of this picture, but I wanted the focus to be the green queen because it is her court.

2. Corner Rook
The rook is my favorite piece on the whole board, and I like the angle of this and the shallow depth of field effect. For my flexible edit I did the smart filter and I smart sharpened everything and adjusted the levels to make it brighter. The masked out portion for my smart filter is everything that wasnt on the chess board. It is really hard to tell in the picture because it is already blurred, but I didnt want to sharpen the blur, so everything else but the chess board was masked out through the sharpen layer.

  1. Cassie, really like your Queen's Corner photo. I like the sunburst on the image; I think it adds a cool affect. I also really like how you used the color saturation to bring out the color of the Queen. I like the angle you took the picture at. Usually we look at the board from a different angle so it is fun to see it at that angle.
